Community still the funniest show on television

Thursday night television means it’s time for my new favorite television show ‘Community’. I dialed up the station on my direct tv illinois guide, grabbed a bucket of popcorn and settled in for the laughs. This show seems like it only gets funnier each week as the cast has finished feeling each other out and can not interact with each other as the characters instead of a group of people who are playing the characters.

Last night’s episode was all about the study group lusting over the only kind of food that the College’s cafeteria does right in chicken fingers. These chicken fingers are so good and so sought after that when Abed gets a job as the chicken fryer, he becomes the most popular kid in school and begins to get perks for himself and the group.

The whole story is told through Abed’s point of view and this particular point of view is that of a mobster movie like ‘Goodfellas’. Like that movie, the perks the group gets are originally only positive but eventually everyone in the study group begins to get spoiled and they start to behave poorly. Jeff, who has lost his leadership position in the group, saw this coming and works with Abed, who has realized the terrible behavior must be stopped. Eventually the proverbial chicken finger faucet is turned off and the gang goes back to normal but not before the show truly hits its comedic peak.

If you haven’t seen this particular episode yet, you really need to find a way to do so. Luckily there are about 50 different ways to do this in today’s internet era. Among the things you should lookout for that will have you rolling on the floor is the name Troy gives his new pet monkey. Even when the characters announce that he has run the funniness out of the name, he actually hasn’t. Also Shirley’s got a love interest that Abed actually manages to steal and Pierce both coins a term and gets a whole new set of friends.

Community was funny from their first episode on, but the fact that it’s getting better as it goes is a good sign for the future.
